'Brahmin' means a person who knows 'Brahma'(The God) and hence a bramin should always try to attain'brahmatva'(Godliness) by doing virtous things like reciting gayatri mantra,offering prayers,doing homam etc.A brahmin should also avoid non-vegetarian food, smoking and liquors.If these are not done ,he is not a brahmin.
